Part 1 - The Idea
The Seed
It began with a question....
Can we turn 2D images into 3D interactive games?
A few illustrations and some 3D printed balls and we could test that theory.
The Next Step
Could we make it better?
By turning the stickers into buttons that you could push in and out of the ball.
We added variety, fine motor skills and more interactive play!
The Market
But what did others think of the product?
So we created a crowdfunding campaign
With the campaign being funded just enough to help us make moulds and start selling.
We hit the market officially!
Part 2 - The business
We designed hundreds of illustrations
Speech therapy for children requires engagement, and versatility.
We had to make sure our illustrations were unique, and fun to use!
This helped keep children engaged for longer
The Design Evolved
The design of the ball was refined over and over again until it was the perfect size, fit, weight and functioned the way needed.
Filed Patents and Design Registrations
Filing protection of the intellectual property was a large cost of the project.
Built a sweet website!
Obviously we need a website to sell the product. We learned a ton from using Shopify and selling product through the website
Learning Resources
We designed many text resources to go with the 3D toy. This ensured therapists were getting great variety out of the system
the Feedback was great!
We validated the idea, and sold a whole bunch.
Part 3 - The End
Closing down
After a wild two years of selling hundreds of products to speech therapists.
We made the decision to close the business for various reasons.
Snapi was an amazing product teaching us the ins and outs of taking a physical product to market.
